when i was a young boy ..we went on a hunting trip out west for some good ol pheasents ...we were counting the dead deer and such ...we came across a deer crossing sine and i says..grand pa why do they put them sines up when along the highway...he said well they post them when ever a deer has been hit...and without a beat i pipe in WELL THERE SURE BEHIND WITH THERE SIGNS ..... its sorta struck him funny as we kept heading west...i member storys of back in the 40s and 50s where ifen ya seen a deer or someone saw a deer track the whole town knew about it then they exploaded and i member growing up it went from counting the live ones on our trips ...from whit tails to mullies to counting the dead one along the road over the live ones to now depending on the places how many of either ya see out the window.......now dont quit member where it is but somewhere they actually build deer highways that are land land bridges over the highways so they can help the people out on there highways ....aint herd how well its going but i am sure it has ta help out a lil bit i reckon...the picture i saw looked to be least 100ft or grater across and spanned arcoss the entire highway....they showed deer by pointing them out with arrows and such but it coulda been photoshopped very easy since it was so outta focus...anyhow thats one way i seen it done ...the other was cattle tunnels under the highways for moving livestock and such ..deer aint stupid there very smart and very adaptable to what works use it methods
