My second white-tailed doe

I shot my very second white-tailed doe south of High Prairie, Alberta in October 2011. Apart from seeing four young white-tailed bucks at the start of the day, I didn't see any for the rest of the day. At about 6:15 p.m., I was ready to call it a day. However, just as I was about to gather up my stuff, I see all these does with fawns come out onto field. So I glassed the field and saw one doe off by herself, on the other side of two bales of hay. So, I set up for a shot with my .300 win mag. I put the cross hairs on her neck and took the shot. She dropped right where she stood. Then I saw another doe and she was trying to determine where the shot came from. I could've taken her down as well, but that one doe was enough for this hunt. I went over to the carcass and was impressed with the shot I had made. She died instantly, she didn't suffer a prolonged agony, which is how I wanted it. So, as a I started field dressing her, I heard some snorting from behind me and it was a doe with a fawn. She was snorting at me. 'You want a piece of this? Bring it on!' I thought. But I just focussed on field dressing her and took her for processing. She and another doe gave me lots of sausage, hamburger and steaks for the freezer. The meat was great! So I'm looking forward to shooting a couple of more does this fall.
