Matt - still whining about ranch deer with nothing good to say.

Nice buck ... but Matt is probably right ... you know those ranches put out those blocks with steroids in them so they can get these freaks of nature to grow then charge someone $10k to hunt! I'm sorry but that is a rediculous amount of $ to pay to kill a deer! For a couple thou more you could go to Africa for pete's sake. Who in their right mind would pay that much to hunt state side?!

Sorry guys, I had not a clue about Ranch Deer, and putting all that unnatural stuff in them. I thought it was just a weid rack. Is everyone really right?????? Does that mean the venison is filled with steriods, and would not be good to eat. This is news to me. I must admit he is not very good lookin.

This buck actually isn't dead. If you look it's on a stretcher and there are veterinary supplies on the table behind it. It's only sedated. The buck is probably from an actual deer farm somewhere and is simply being checked by the vet, or vaccinated. There's no blood from the mouth. He is drooling on the cot which is something they do under anesthesia. I work on a deer farm and see it all the time.

Barbara, No the venison is still good to eat. Steroids are not given to pin raised deer. Pin raised deer are able to grow large becasue of several factors. The most important factors are a diet that gives the body what it needs, after the body meets it's needs, left over nutrients can be fed to the antlers. Also, age plays a huge factor in how the antlers grow. Most pin raised deer are bread for a certain look, typical with extra stickers to increase the overall score. Most deer breeders shoot for the typical look. However, every once in a while bucks grow antlers like this. It happens in the wild too. Overall, this buck is a pin raised deer that has been given a strick diet and no stress, resulting in large antlers.

Hey Matt - Never hunted a ranch raised anything in all my life and I don't think hunting a ranch raised deer is much sport at all. Just tired of seeing all your foul mouthed comments about ranch bucks on a site that has youngsters on it. Three of my young cousins in fact and the site has many disabled hunters who's only option is to hunt a ranch. Most grown men have more respect than you and that's who this site is for. For your own good... you misspelled "too" in your first comment, "yea", the first "too" in your second comment, "don't", "you're", "of" and "barrel". You're the most illiterate person on this site and defiantly the most foul mouth and disrespectful.

Matt Cramp,

Amy is correct. This site is for respectful hunters and we do not allow any childish name calling, cursing or harassing. Not only is it unpleasant but it's a requirement of the site's advertisers. Lastly and most seriously, you're violating the site's terms of use which are established to protect youth on the site. If you're unaware of The Child Online Protection Act and how you've been violating it, for you're own good you should take a moment to educate yourself on the subject. I'm a site moderator and I've deleted the comment Amy is referring to. If you choose to curse or name call again, I'll take joy in banning your IP address and all IP addresses associated to you.

Tyler- I do taxidermy for a living and that statement aint fully true. They do give Pin raise animals steroids but mostly they keep VERY GOOD genetics from other animals and place them in the females to get bigger and bigger buck of the spring. I see many wild deer that come in that have "junk" as we call it but nothing like that but we've had 230-250inch deer come in that are wild. But i have to say its pretty ugly, i wouldnt shoot it and wouldn't pay for a pin raised animal cause its all about the hunt not just go into a high fence place shoot the biggest animal and say you hunted for it. I like nice clean *point mule deer and clean whitetails.
