This black (melanistic) color phase of the white-tailed deer, Odocoileus virginianus, was taken during hunting season in Texas on January 3rd 2004. They are said to be rarer than appearances of the albino phase.Pretty cool huh?

Now thats a cool looking deer! That is definitely one I'd love to come across.... There's a beautiful piebald on the property I hunt.
