yes i have chuckles..this 185 class 10 point buck i was hunting used this dead tree that was 30 some inches around and he made a rub from 4 feet off the ground to 8 or 9 feet high into the trunk of the tree and 8 inches deep must of been rubbing on it for years..lol
I would also have to say this is porcupine damage. And David, if you saw a rub 8 or 9 feet high, it most certainly wasn't from a whitetail. Even standing on their hind legs they couldn't reach that high, let alone have the leverage to make a rub. I've hunted elk in quite a few different states, and seen hundreds of elk rubs, none of which were 9 ft high.
