Stalking

I have raised sheep for many years and many time i have just sat down and watched them for hours. Every now and then God would teach me using the sheep and say this is how people act and what you should do. Well watching the sheep made me understand people and animal better. One time i saw a mule deer doe grazing in the forest and i had a tag for her. I said to my brother ok im going to get her, she had a brown coat on her and was the average size deer. So my stalk started at 100 yard with trees spaced apart from each other and each tree was about 4 inches thick. So as i walked straight to the deer i used the 4 inch tree to hid behind and i didn that by letting her hide her eye behind them. The close i got the harder the stalk was. In a hour and a half i eventually got 20 yards away from the deer. I slowly walked to the deer watching ever twitch of the muscle. I studied the way its ears move to the twitch of its tail. I made a move every time its eye went behind a tree and each step i took made it look at me, I stayed still alot and for a long time till it relaxed. Eventually at the 2 hour mark i got 5 feet from the deer and decided i shouldnt touch it, so i raised my bow and its head slowly raised. I pulled back the bow and the deer was in full stare. I let it go and the worst thing happened. The arrow did not go in all the way. I sat there watching the deer run away with a arrow bouncing up and down on its side. I said to my self huh? what just happened. Well After some thought, i may have been too close, which didnt allow the allow to spine causing a drilling motion that would have easily went into the deer and i hit the bone. The bow i was using was a 55 lb re-curve. We did search for the deer, to make sure it wasnt fatal. My brother asked did you miss, im like no I saw the arrow in the deer, but the arrow was bouncing.
