I decided to head back to school so suddenly I have all these free mornings and it just so happens the marsh I like is on the way to my school. Good times won't last forever though.
Believe me I don't like the city either, but I have to live in it for school. Too far of a commute to go back home, that is why I'm home every weekend to hunt
The weather is making the birds fly now. The lakes are awesome right now also for divers but I haven't been having loads of luck with them, lots of mergansers though
Where I hunt its mostly mallards and buffleheads, but the crazy weather has been bringing in woodies and now some geese so it is picking up. New birds is always nice so they aren't flying so high, I'm hunting Lake Erie Friday morning so hopefully I will nail a few with this cold front that has been coming through.
I hunt on Georgian Bay, and right now its all divers and geese, I find I only get mallards back in the marshes. And I haven't seen a woody in a month, I find they are usually gone after the first couple weeks of opening. The new birds are great, but they are cautious!
Must be nice up there, I hunt geese around there a couple times a year. I hunt right on the shore where we get fresh birds constantly moving down to Long Point marshes which is only 20 minutes away. The new birds for us are always flying low, and closer to the shore which is nice. Other birds have already been shot at and are flying high and 50 or so yards off shore, so this cold front should help bring in new flocks, I hope. We need some fresh birds or I have to start relocating
I live right on the Bay and hunt 250m from my house. Best place going in my opinion lol, the birds will be fresh, they aren't resident ducks anymore and if they are they are running scared! I wouldn't relocate if its showed promise in the past.
Thats unreal, I hunt about 5 min from my house out off the shore. Thats good when they aren't resident, fresh birds is key thats like my spot too, as long as ya have a steady stream of birds its gold. Well this is my main spot, I have a creek I hunt as well in a few spots, but the lake is my go-to because of the past. The amount of birds is unbelievable, it all changes with the seasons though, whether thats for the better or worse we will see.
