This is probably the single best way to improve whitetail habitat aside from timbering or planting large food plots. Create some funnels and bedding areas by hinge cutting on your property.

Its awesome along field edges. One of the biggest problems with hunting a field edge is all of the entrance points, and only being able to cover so many. By hinge cutting along the entire length of the field and only leaving a few small gaps at large trails, you effectively reduce the number of entrances. The farmer of the main farm I hunt just knocked down a ton of trees along the field edges in the offseason, and its excellent for me because it did just what I mentioned.
