Hahaha... You guys call that a monster? I'd pass. 13000lbs???? How many moose have you guided Peter? That bull has good genetics but his neck should be bigger around then his waist is if he were 1300lbs. This is not the case. Good bull though.
not a bad moose but he is nowhere near huge, and he would be pushing 6 or 7 hundred pounds maybe 8 not 1300. and rack size has nothing to do with dominance its the size of the fight that's in him.
take a look at some of my drops and you will see I know what I'm talking about...what is that one of those Shirus moose never saw one if it is. we have Canadian moose here and they're way bigger and I've harvested at least on every year since I have been hunting (35 plus years) sorry about the mistake if that's the case. I'm heading to the moose camp in 48 hrs opening day is Saturday....getting antsy. Will drop photo's when I harvest! Good luck to everyone.
Biggest calf I took was in 2009 dressed out at about 415lbs. And the conservation officers were on my a** about it. One of them thought is was a 1 1\2 old.. Also took a bull later years that was 3 1/3 29"spread and he was 735lbs my scales don't lie. I do this for a living. And i did check out your drops. I would re-measure that 50" bull. By the way. 2009 my dad got a 52" it was 1180lbs.
I would have no problem believing that that moose weighs 1300 lbs. I have a horse who is seventeen hands high at the shoulders and a chest as big around as a rodeo barrel, and he weighs 1000. Even so, Sonny is no where near the massiveness of this bull.
we shot a cow elk last year that had toweighed around 700lbs,took 3 of us to get her in the truck.he is definetly alot bigger than that .heck my mule deer had to weight a good 3- 400lbs.everything up here is bigger
Id say 1200-1500 the way he stands. Have seen them with a 52inch rack weigh 1000 after being dressed and hung for a week. The biggest down fall to getting a moose that size, all the work to get the bugger back to camp...
I don't know much about the moose itself but as for the people behind it, speaking as someone who played football for four years, I'd say they are between 35-40 yards away tops. Either way good pic
Guiding in northern Yukon. The moose are as big as they come up there! a Big boy would max out at 1700Ibs. I have seen Hundreds of moose. this ones nice, but nothing unusual. your average moose will be 6 feet at the shoulder.
Peter he looks like at least an 8 year old .We got one this fall 61 and a quarter inch which was bigger than this one but i wouldnt mind his head on my wall

Also can tell just by the rack he is not the dominate bull in the area. So you can bet there's a bigger one there wherever this photo was taken.jeff gilmore

Dont mean size of rack at all Jeff. Just mean the shapes its in. Extremely dominate bulls are usually worn down on the tops of their palms.Peter Bridges
