Shortly after I finished the ITTS handgun course I heard about a friendly handgun competition at my local range and decided to try out my new skills. I have never competed in any sort of shooting competition before so this was a first! I was shooting my Kimber 1911 compact .45 ACP which I had used in my training course and I felt pretty comfortable with. It was silly to think I would do well because I was way out of my league! The guys I was competing with were amazingly precise, it was obvious that they had been doing this for a long time. There were only a few people competing and I was the only girl as always! We had four magazines with six rounds in each and we had a sequence of challenges to complete. Luckily the range master was very patient with me because I must have made him go over the rules at least three times.
