They're the epitome of groundbreaking gun design. Its amazing that a gun designed at the turn of the 20th century was still in production and relevant 100 years later. The Remington 11 is the same exact gun. Browning licensed it to Rem many years after Browning started production of the A5 in Belgium. Remington even made some A5s during WW2. If you've got 1953s, they're Belgian. A bunch we made in Japan after '75. Savage also made two very similar models, the 720 and 745.
That's correct Zack - The 1953 Sweet Sixteen was made in Belgium. This Light Twelve was also made in Belgium in fact, but I don't have an exact year determined on it yet...I think it was made in the late sixties or early seventies. I haven't been able to decipher the serial number codes to determine it's age.
Now see, I've heard a few people call my model 11 a browning remington, and I always figured that browning had the design first. It's fun to learn new things every day about guns. Unfortunately my model 11 had an accident 2 years ago, when I was out shooting clays with a few friends, my forearm pretty much exploded, and tracking down a new one, has been hard to do. I don't know why it did it, because I never put any shells bigger than 2 3/4 in it.

I have a matching set - the Light Twelve pictured, and a 1953 Sweet Sixteen. I used them both on opening weekend and I just love shooting them.Justin Orrill
It's funny how much my Remington model 11 looks so close to the browning A5. They're wonderful guns to shoot.Zack Doyle
