On October 14, 1912 he was shot in the chest with a .38. He coughed a couple of times, when no blood came up he went ahead and delivered a 90 minute speech. He figured the bullet didn't make it to his lungs.

Its a true story, he had a speech folded up in his chest pocket, it slowed the bullet enough it did do much damage, he read his speech then went to the hospital!!!!!!Brandon Frazier

My bad. It was 1912. This post really riled some people up. I just know what I read. I guess because it's an election year. I just know he was a war hero, a hunter, a fisherman and a president. But I guess there will be folks who disagree with some of that. Hey, it was almost a 100 years ago. We tend to smooth some of the rough edges off historic figures over time. Lighten up.Brian Newman
