georgia is to cold a climate i would say ur safe,,,anyhow this has been a problem for many tears now...people buy them then well they just turn them loose cause they cant handle them anymore let alone afford to feed them...californa and florida and all the surounding areas are well over run with large pythons and boas ,,,but here is the big kicker people come up missing all the time without a trace and well you dont read anything about it or hear about it on the tv so not to upset there tourist from visiting...now ya can see and or find alot of findings of snakes being found with natives and other such things as hippos and small gators being seen captured cause they just cant get away after there eating of such a meal...to be shot cute open and then have people set there in shock and aw when they see not a deer or a hog but they see a human body...the snake is other then the gator and great white shark are built for survival ...thank about it a 15 inch in diameter or girth can swallow prey up to 40 inches in width or girth ...so u tell me whats ur shirt size ...anyhow so what i say is do something about it and stop letting ur friends just turn them loose give them to ur zoo or but them down and sell the skin and then enjoy some good eating ,,,breed them and make ya some cash,, but first buy them and build a proper cage for them and be resposible for them ...it aint there fault you were the one who let them go ...there just doimg what you and everyone else on thos here planet are trying to do and thats surivive ....
man, that is disturbing to read ron but I believe it there have been snake skins found to be like 30 to 40 feet long in the amazon it prolly only needs like ten feet in length to eat a human so i believe it it's sad because yet again animals die because humans are irresponsible and let critters like boas and pythons loose in the wild not thinking of the consequences. In my opinion people should never get a large animal like that unless they know how to care for it and letting run free causing small problems like this isn't what I had in mind. Maybe if Steve Irwin were alive he could get through to these people but he obviously isn't to teach us right from wrong in nature. To think that there was prolly a time when boas and other snakes didn't live in Florida maybe if people knew the ramifications to this predicament we would have this in balance of the food chain.
I totally agree with most of these posts, but what alot of you are forgeting is the hurricans and everything else that has came through and destroyed alot of homes with these animals in them. So not all of them are from people just letting them go. I have big snakes at my house and i have had them for along time and would never thing of letting them go. I love my animals like family. I have a dog, cat, 2 snakes, fish and 1 scorpion. @ Justin the skins they have found yes are very long like you post, but what alot of people dont realize is when the the animal is skinned its skin stretches and makes it alot bigger than it reallly was.
