A lot of people overlook fallen trees when looking for rubs. I use to until I realized how common it is.

Same here. I've got an area that has no small tree that the deer usually rub in other areas around it. The one thing it does have is some trees that have fallen down like this on and I find they've been rubbing a good bit of them.
