Long range use a 300 ultra mag it is only 6 lbs and I have sean it hit a deer a 870 yards and it was a throu and throukevin janssen
a 270 does a great job everyone i know loves it and so do i it does a great job last year i was able to do a 500 yard shot and it droped it with on shot and it took an other buck behind it so i was able to fill my dads tag for himJason Couture
All being considered I would say to go with the 270WSM. The ballistics are amazing and the recoil of the short magnum shell casing makes it feel more like a heavy loaded .243.Ian Brunson
