Poachers and dead deer in front of stand

So I got out this weekend to do some management. I got all my cams set up started my feeders and all of that go stuff. So low and behold as I am walking up to my favorite stand I see a dead buck laying 15 yards in front of it. It had a gun shot hole through the heart and left to lay. They also stole the SD card out of my cam to top it all off. So I guess my main question is how bad is that dead animal messing up my spot and is there anything I need to do. Next weekend I am bringing my skid steer out there and I will get it gone. Should I do anything else and did this really hurt my favorite spot much?

All animals that are not meat eaters will avoid.the area untill the deer has either dexomposed fully or untill it is removed and the scent of decomposing deer is gone.

would it be better to just burn it in place or just scoop it up and haul it all off?

if it were me i would scoop it and haul it off. i would invest in a cam to angle down and try to catch me some poachers. i really hate poachers. also since u have a skid steer scoop the dirt out where the deer is laying and refill it bate or something of the sort to keep the deer coming around that area.

Oh I got hidden cams out now! Its private family land that only me and one other person hunt and its small town area so typically we never have a problem with this because people know what happens when they do. I was thinking I would just scoop it and all the mess around it up and haul it away.

that is what i would do........ but i would also be sure to but some attractants and such to cover any smell that might be left behind.

I have a feeder, salt lick and cam right there. Like I said its my best spot and I ALWAYS see deer here. By the time I make it back out there to clean it up my cam will let me know what kind of traffic I get with it there. I will take a buck bomb and see if I can cover it up some as well.

Derek, not sure what state you are in but, I have had deer come up and sniff a deer I have shot and kept on walking. I field dress just about all my deer in the field and I have gone back the next day and hunted the same area and had deer just walk by the gut pile. Deer die in the wild all the time and I have never seen one spook because of it. If you are worried about it, hook a rope to it and drag it away and predators will take care of it for you.

Well traffic has definitely decreased in the spot compared to the traffic and pics I had weeks prior. Something large drug the deer off lol it was 400 yards away when I went out there yesterday. Still smells bad but I am sure it will be back to normal before to long.

if u think he is coming back put u a deer cam in top of a tree faceing your stand no one looks up for a deer cam and get a pic of the sob hate people on my hunting land.like ryan said drag it to a good spot to hunt predator from mite as well get sum use out of him.

I also field dress my deer in the woods, and never does it affect my deer traffic. I have had deer walk right up to a pile of guts and keep on walking or even eating around it. but i guess some deer can be different. the traffic in your area may have decreased not due to the deer body but instead the disturbance your poachers made while in your spot. Deer are very patterned animals and if your poachers affected that pattern, it may take a lil while for there pattern to return to normal.
Best of luck and Good hunting !!!

the only thing i can think to tell you is to put some kind of an attractant where the carcass was. Keep in mind that if the predators scent is in the area its going to make it that much harder to get the deer coming back. I would also suggest either buying or making a steel box to hold the game cam. That should help to deter future sd card grabbers.

Just left it be and the deer came back I have a feeder and mineral site there.

I think it may be very convenient. You can easily compare prices in different countries and find your dream hunting. Your opinion is highly needed!
