I think its a great switch. The G5 Striker and Montec are both awesome heads. They'll fly better than Muzzys too. If you want a truly amazing fixed blade, you need to look into the Slick Trick Magnum or QAD Exodus. You can see both of them on my "Must Have Archery Gear" board.
Haven't done a lot of homework, per say, on this one, BUT my personal opinion is stick with Muzzy. G5 are nice and sharp and worth what you spend on 'em. Old saying..."You get what you pay for." With G5, that is certainly true. However, not so much with Muzzy. I have had Muzzy 100gr on my arrows for 4 years and have yet to need to sharpen them or replace them. Really, it's all about personal preference. Your going to be your own toughest critic on what works best for you.
I have been using Muzzy 4 blade 100gr for 6 years and have not lost a deer yet KNOCK ON WOOD all but one died in view, the other was a bad shot hit a damn limb and hit the hind quarter great bloud trail only went about 100 yards before he droped. Now i can't say the G5's are any better or worse im just saying if it aint broke dont fix it. Just so you are happy with what you use you will do fine. Im glad to see you are sticking with a fixed blade I'm not a fan of mechanical saw way too many deer wounded and not found. Happy hunting bud
I switched to Motec g5 a couple years ago, and will never go back to muzzy again. I had trouble getting muzzy to fly good despite trying everything to tune them in. Finally I put on a friends Montec and it flew like a dart. I went and paid the $40 per pack, put them on my arrows and started shooting very tight groups with no problem. First deer shot with them was a 7 point, complete pass through, exit was low and smashed through the foreleg nearly cutting it off. This is after passing through the opposite shoulder. Im sold on them.
