A 1.5 year old Albino walks 15 yards from your treestand but your a trophy hunter and you prefer to shoot mature deer. What do you do? Shoot or let it walk?
Boy oh boy. The deer pictured here is fairly large bodied, and a little more mature I would say. If it were this particular deer, it's getting an arrow. If it were small bodied, and say a spike or a forkhorn, I'd let it walk. Albinism is a genetic mutation, and really isn't all that great for overall herd health. Albino doe=dead. Albino buck this big=dead.
I'm with Zack. As beautiful as this animal is, I can see a shoulder mount, a small tanned deer hide rug, and a partial freezer full of meat. Lately I'm all about managing my herd and those are certainly genetics I don't want mixed in. I'm sure whereever this buck is, he's had a chance to breed so there are probably some pie-bald deer around (that's partially white and partially brown).
Although....I do believe a true albino is supposed to have a pink nose and red eyes. Maybe it's the distance or the camera but I don't truly see either on this photo. The nose looks pale but not pink. I thought for a minute this could possibly be a white fallow deer but I don't see any palming on the antlers.
I'd agree this deer is older than 1.5 due to his chest is barreled, belly hanging and his back is starting to sway, in my world all of this puts meat in my freezer as far as the genetics he has or could possibly spread, that to would put meat in my freezer. I to am like Olivia and hunt meat but have had the privilege of taking some mature trophies.
Bottom line is that at 15 yards I'd let the air out of him
I got this picture off the internet and yes i realize its older than 1.5 years old but i wanted a picture of an albino with a small rck and one that was still alive and this is one of the only ones i could find!
If I was looking at a 1.5 yr old albino, I shoot it......but only with my camera. Any older and it still has the crap rack, its getting shot with my bow. BTW I have only seen 1 piebald deer in my life while hunting and it was beautiful. It was a fawn probably only 50 pounds or so. Mother was totally brown, the fawn was almost all white. I hope I see that again someday.

Regardless it's gorgeous.

Well, I don't really care as far as trophies go. I'm all in it for the meat. It's what gets us through the year. So white or brown, it's down.mike guyton
