I have seen some monstrous bucks this year here in WV and most are still in velvet but some have completely shed their velvet. Is anybody else seeing this?
I see normally 50-60 bucks in a day and I usually see the same ones, day in and day out, but now I'm really starting to see some bigger ones that are 150-160 class P&Y and have only seen one lonely 6 that had shed his velvet.
I live in northeast alabama and so far all bucks i have on my game cameras are still in velvet, although my dad lives about 15 miles from there and saw one in hard horn the other day
I think right now they are focused more on gaining the needed nutrition for the upcoming rut and future fighting more than trying to actually rub hard.
