I won a Remington 270 when I was 25. I put a scope on it. I used it the first year I could for the deer season. I am 44 now. I STILL use the same 270 every year. 270 remingtom bolt action. Great choice. Wood or synthetic depends on you.
I have had my Savage .270 for years and is my favorite deer rifle. Mine is the model 111 with a full synthetic stock. I have been able to shoot this rifle since I was 12.
I have a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight and enjoy it very much. Adjustable trigger, ( not that you need it ), pin comes apart easy for cleaning and many options available for aftermarket stuff. Only downside is it only holds 3 in the magazine. (here in Canada anyway, mine shows 5 on the Winchester site???)
