You mean to eat? Their ain't nothin' wrong with that, but in KS to be legal about it, you got to buy a salvage tag first for like $10 or something. You need to check that it ain't tainted either.
The bad thing about that is how bad the meat will be bruised up from being hit. You might not get much out of it and it will cost you processing to find out.
No, Jennifer, it wouldn't. If it's beaten up, just ground it up into burger meat, and make burgers and sausages out of it. We made a huge venison burger a while back. Tasted awesome. My cousin hit it.
Yah I'm in KS and I only do it when I hit them (which is every other year lol) In KS you just call the cops and they come out and give you a tag for it to make everything legal. If you have a hunting license and have a animal in your possession that isn't tagged that's bad news! The meat will only be bad in the main area's hit and if you skin and hang them quick there is less blood in the damaged tissue.
i agree its better for it to be eaten then wasted? and the thought of grinding up the meat thats bruised is the best idea, thats what we do, and in illinois we only haveto call it in and get a salvage number and then you can process legaly, no cost for tag
