Good question, depends on where you are from. I am from southern ontario and they are over populating significantly and pushing onto farms and into small towns
I'm in upstate NY and anywhere you go you can hear them on just about any given night and some times in the morning as well. I think the biggest problem w/ over population is that not too many people trap any more. prices are up for some furs now so maybe we'll see a little more of it coming back.
Part of it will be your location, especially being in east Tennessee, but there is also a ridiculous amount of coyotes and they have been known to travel as far as 30 miles in a given day. So no matter what you do, there'll be a coyote somewhere around you. The only thing you can do is shoot them as you see them, but it'll do little for population management. Again, a single coyote can travel 30 miles a day, so you may never see the same one twice.
i live in georgia and are overrun with em ... coyotes are on a shoot always basis on our property they can hurt a deer herd and turkey population quick like and in a hurry !!
