Can anyone tell me about this Mauser?
I have this Mauser 98 sporter in 30-06 that I'm putting together, it's been customized w/ engraving and shaving done here and there that has covered or taken off almost all identifying marks except on the barrel that says "mauser 30 cal. US government 1906 Germany" and an engraved picture on the under side of the action of a knight wielding a sword on a horse that appears to be riding into battle. any ideas on the origin of this rifle?

Don't know much about that particular model, but I am especially fond of the Mauser- style actions.Zander Willoughby
I've seen a lot of Mausers and have never even heard of one like this. How much did you pay for it?Tim Maxim
Zander, A good friend gave it to me. it was his deer rifle for years before he got a new one last year.Tim Maxim
