There is no such thing as a fiberglass arrow designed for hunting large animals. Bowfishing arrows are fiberglass, and are extremely heavy. Yes, I suggest switching to carbon. Much lighter, faster, and more durable. Visit your local bow shop, and have them cut some to fit your setup. I recommend Gold Tip Expedition or XT Hunters to start. Both great shafts in the 60-90 dollar range.
Yes carbon is the way to go these days. No more bending when pulling arrows out of targets etc. I shoot Easton Axis FMJ. Great penetration with these arrows, works great with less poundage bows.
The Full Metal Jackets that you shoot however can and will bend, due to them being an aluminum/carbon combination. But you are right about better penetration because of their weight.
I would recomend carbon. I shoot GoldTip arrows with great confidence. Do your homework and make sure the wieght your shooting is right for the poundage your bow is set at. You can find the guide lines online just google "proper arrow wieght suggestions by the IBO" and you'll be off and running. It's crucial to have the right wieght ratio as it will enhance the speed, accuracy, velocity and kinetic energy for hunting. Faster arrows don't always mean more penetration, finding the right balance of wieght and speed will make for clean kill's.
