1st hog hunt

I went on my 1st hunt ever today. I went after feral hogs. I have a recurve with 40#, and arrows that are 400 with the new toxic arrow head. My 1st shot on a female went just above her shoulder. The I got two more that came in 20 mins later. one was a boar and big, or it looked big to me. I shot low this time, and they came right back to the spot. I hit the boar but I think I went too high on it. He took off, I could see the arrow still sticking in him. We never found him and no blood trail. So I'm trying to figure if I was too high or not enough penetration due to poundage. BYW I think not hitting low enough is a given.

I'd bet you didn't get enough penetration. The new toxics have something like 5" of cutting edge. That's a lot of blade to push through an animal. If you're going to keep shooting that bow and weight, maybe switch to a cut-on-contact fixed blade with a steeper angle. You'll see way more penetration, especially with animals that are as tough as hogs.

I think it may be very convenient. You can easily compare prices in different countries and find your dream hunting. Your opinion is highly needed!
