Crazy Idea - Predator Populations

I just got a crazy - or genius - idea. I don't know. The dilemma is that I know we have coyotes; everytime I go home to visit my family, I hear them. Huge pack by the sound of it. I've also been tracked and growled at by a panther of some sort, on several occasions. Then there are rumors of black bears. My idea is I want to figure out how many predators there are exactly, roaming in our area. Any ideas? My only idea right now is to set up bait traps, like a bait deposit, with a camera nearby to catch anything that comes through.

Buy an electronic prey call, go out in the middle of the field and just sit there for an afternoon you will find out how many coyotes you have for sure and you might even get a black bear to come say hi too.

trail cameras are remarkable tools for the outdoorsman these days! Make good use of them. Also talk to your local wildlife resources agency. I bet they have good advice for dealing with those coyotes.

John is on the money not only will a trail cam help with your predator count it will let you see some amazing photos of outher animal's and i have a call live where there is Coyote tracks ,scatt and how's and i never called a single one in. save yourself about $500.00 LOL Have fun and for god sake's carry a fire arm while out and about, i'd just die if i heard a cougar or panther around me :)

I know! That's what I'm after too! Nobody believes me, not even the game wardens. They blow off our claims of the bears and the panthers all the time; I want proof that they exist on our property. I rode out this afternoon and set the game cam up, so hopefully I'll have some pictures by Monday. I left a whole deer thigh out there for bait; it's been in the freezer since '06...ugh

I think it may be very convenient. You can easily compare prices in different countries and find your dream hunting. Your opinion is highly needed!
