Anyone here into traditional archery?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here is into traditional archery (recurve, longbow, selfbow and ect.)? I would also like to know if anyone hunts with the tradtional bow. I myself hunt with a traditional bow only.

Hey Brett,

This site was seeded by some of the best archers out there. Many of which shoot competition and Zack Doyle, who is listed at the top of the Hunters page on this site, has one two nation championships. He shoots compound and recurve and knows more about bows than anyone I would of ever imagined He'll probably get around to responding to this question shortly. Zack's on of the best but still one of many current members who shoot traditional bows. So much so, they've gotten me into it. Bottom line, you'e in good hands with this quest and and should start getting some good answers tomorrow ond Monday. Again, great to have you on the site and we all welcome you and hope you fully enjoy. As soon as you see anything you don't like about our site, please send it to [email protected] and it will have the Team's full attention. Welcome, welcome!

Zack...

Hey Brett, I started off shooting a recurve years ago, a Browning Nomad Stalker at 45#. No sights, no rest, just fingers and felt. Killed my first deer at 15 with it. I made the upgrade to compound shooting back in the 80's with intentions of going after dangerous game with it and never did beyond hogs.

I recently got certified as a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) instructor and am looking to change things up. Now that I'm looking for the new sport within the same old sport, I'm going back to recurve. The Olympic games in London had a lot to do with that too, just saying.

I have looked at a PSE Recurve that's about 60# and I've looked at a Bear Recurve that's at #45 lbs and am told with the right arrow, they'll both hit about 250 fps. I won't complain about either although I don't think a target will jump and run away. Welcome to Hunt Drop!

Zack I'll probably be trying to pick your brains too in the near future...

Oh, wow. Sorry for all my spelling errors. That was the first time I tried to leave a comment from my phone.

I'm not an active archer, but when I do go bow hunting, I use either my longbow or a cherry recurve. My dad uses compounds, and I hate it. It doesn't feel natural. I also use wood shaft, feather-fletch arrows. I'm a pretty good shot, but, like I said, I don't bow hunt that often.

I think it may be very convenient. You can easily compare prices in different countries and find your dream hunting. Your opinion is highly needed!
