From my website - www.whitetailwriter.com
Thank you for visiting whitetailwriter.com. I would say that not a day goes by that I’m not thinking about whitetails, or doing something related to hunting them, photographing them, or writing about them. Growing up in Pennsylvania, which has more licensed hunters than any other state in the country, I was surrounded by hunting and abundant deer herds. It was inevitable that I would at least take an interest in the sport. For some reason though, I developed an indescribable passion for whitetails at a very young age, and once I began hunting them, particularly with a bow, I was hooked for life.
Don’t let the name of the site fool you, however. I am an all-around outdoorsman and I write about a variety of topics, such as waterfowling, fishing, upland bird and turkey hunting, and conservation. I chose the name WhitetailWriter because I believe the whitetail represents all that is wonderful about nature and hunting, from their majesty to their remarkable intelligence and ability to elude danger. They are genetically engineered survivors, nature’s finest if you will, and a worthy symbol for all of the game and fish we pursue.
Professionally I have enjoyed a rewarding career in the conservation and outdoor industry which includes serving as Vice President of Watershed Conservation and Conservation Services for Western Pennsylvania Conservancy for 11 years, and in January 2012 I became Chief Operating Officer for Delta Waterfowl Foundation. Accepting this position necessitated relocation by my wife Angela and me to Bismarck, North Dakota, which puts us in the crosshairs of some of the best hunting and fishing that North America has to offer.
In addition to the best waterfowling opportunities in the world, this rugged country is home to whitetails, mule deer, elk, bison, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, turkey, pheasant, sharptail grouse, and world-class walleye and northern pike fishing. Add to that the close proximity of the mysterious badlands and hundreds of miles of scenic hiking trails, it is clear that there will be no shortage of adventures to share with you.
I developed WhitetailWriter to document my almost daily interaction with the outdoor world. I write about a variety of topics throughout the year, and maintain regularly updated hunting and fishing journals. I also provide tips and tactics that I hope you can use to improve your own experiences. More than anything, it is my sincere hope that my passion for the outdoors comes through in my posts, and that you are motivated to visit often. Again, I thank you for visiting, and I hope our paths cross someday.
