What would you suggest for turkey hunting when there's still snow on the ground?

So far I've heard to try to find a south facing slope where the snow will be gone or at least not as deep.

Wht are some good deer rifles around 500-600 dollars?

I need a gun that is good for deer, but that I could use on bigger game too. I like lever acions and I was looking at marlin mx or mxlr.
